Thursday, November 16th is National Information and Referral Services Day. Each year, The Information Center recognizes its information and referral specialists on this significant day in November. Everyday thousands of community residents call information and referral agencies seeking assistance with food, shelter, clothing, rent, utility assistance, health insurance and other areas of need. Many times, the Information and Referral Specialist is their only link to resources that can help them. Our specialists are trained and certified to provide connections to free community programs and services.
On National Information and Referral (I&R) Day, we recognize the hard-working specialists who serve the community every day. I&R Specialists not only provide reliable information and referrals to people in need, but they are also an empathetic listening ear when callers are experiencing a crisis or under great stress. I&R Specialists provide valuable information, referrals and access to services such as food, emergency shelter, employment and training programs, utility payment assistance, veteran resources, healthcare, and long-term care for seniors and persons with disabilities. The Information Center’s I&R team is dedicated to assisting people when they are in need of help.
