Real Help When School Gets Hard

person typing on the computer

When you came to WCCCD, you came to finish something.

Bills, rent, kids, work, mental health, and a hundred other things can get in the way fast.

The Student Assistance Program (SAP) is here for that. We help with the stuff weighing you down so you can stay in class. Call 1-855-59WCCCD (1-855-599-2223). We will not judge. We will not rush you. We will just help.

If this is you right now, We can help.

If this is you right now, We can help.

  • ‘My rent is due and I don’t have it.’ We can help you find emergency rent help, work with your landlord, or find another safe place to stay.

  • ‘My utilities are about to be shut off.’ Call us before the shut-off date if you can. We can connect you to programs that pay utility bills before they are cut.

  • ‘I am running out of food.’ We can connect you to food pantries, meal programs, and benefits that put food in your fridge fast.

  • ‘My childcare just fell through.’ We help find childcare options near you and look for help paying for them.

  • ‘I lost my ride to school.’ Bus passes, rideshare options, and transportation help. We will figure out what works for your schedule.

  • ‘I am not OK mentally.’ You can talk to us. We will connect you to free or low-cost counseling and other mental health support.

  • ‘I lost my job.’ We help with income options, job search, and emergency support while you get back on your feet.

  • ‘My family situation is hard.’ Family stress, caregiving for a parent, kids needing more, problems at home, we can help you find support.

  • ‘I don’t even know where to start.’ Just call. You don’t have to know what kind of help you need. We will figure it out together.

Person calling The Information Center for Help

Not a robot. Not a phone tree maze. A real person who works with WCCCD students.

Just tell them what is happening in your life. You don’t need a perfect summary.

They will not interrupt. They will not lecture. They will not judge.

This part is on us. You don’t have to know which program or which agency. We do this every day.

Sometimes that is a referral. Sometimes it is help filling something out. Sometimes it is a follow-up call. Always plain and clear.

What You Don’t Need to Have Ready

You DO NOT need

  • A list of all your bills.

  • Your tax returns.

  • Your bank statements.

  • A clean explanation of what is going on.

  • Your student ID number on hand.

  • All the right paperwork. (We can get the rest later)

  • To know exactly what kind of help you need.

  • A reason ‘good enough’ to call.

You Don't Have to Do It All Alone

What If This is You

Call anyway.

Sometimes there are options to catch up, withdraw without penalty, or work things out with your professors. We will help you figure out what is actually possible.

Probation is not the end of the road. Students on probation use SAP all the time.

We will help you with the things outside of class so you can focus on bringing your grades back up.

We can talk through your options. Sometimes there are ways to set up a plan or find help. Owing money does not block you from using SAP.

Talk to us first.

Sometimes the thing pushing you out is something we can fix.

Sometimes the right move really is to take a break.

We will help you make the best choice for you, with information.

Call again. We are not going to bring it up. Life is messy. We get it.

We work with complicated situations all the time. The more going on, the more reason to talk to us.

We are not going to make you explain how you got here.

We are going to help you figure out what is next.
