Michigan WORKS! at The Information Center connects job seekers and employers in Wayne County (excluding Detroit) and Monroe County through Michigan Works! One Call. Send a referral. Or Hand off a number.

Michigan WORKS! at The Information Center is the workforce side of TIC, job search, training, education paths, and employer recruiting.
Michigan Works! One Call is the centralized phone line that handles both job seeker and employer calls.
TIC operates One Call under contract with SEMCA Michigan Works! across Wayne County (excluding Detroit) and Monroe County.
If the person you refer also needs help with rent, utilities, food, or mental health, a Community Navigator works on those at the same time.

How Michigan WORKS! pairs with the Student Assistance Program
The Student Assistance Program at 1-855-59WCCCD (1-855-599-2223) handles support that helps a student stay enrolled, food, housing, utilities, mental health, transportation.
Michigan WORKS! at 1-800-285-9675 handles workforce help, job search, training, certificates, and employer connections.
Both can run at the same time. Many students need both.

They are exploring careers but do not know what fits.

Where We Serve Michigan Works! One Call
Wayne County — every city and township except Detroit. Includes Taylor, Romulus, Lincoln Park, Southgate, Wyandotte, Allen Park, Riverview, Melvindale, Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Westland, Inkster, Garden City, Livonia, and other communities.
Monroe County — Monroe, Temperance, and other communities.
Refer people from Detroit anyway — we will connect them with the right Michigan Works! agency for the city.
Refer people from outside Wayne and Monroe — we will help connect them to the right Michigan Works! agency for their region.

A warm hand-off, sit with the person and call 1-800-285-9675 together, it has the highest success rate.
If that is not possible, submit an online referral or share the number with the person directly.
If you are sharing identifiable information with us, name, contact info, yes. If you are simply giving the person the number to call themselves, no permission is needed.
If they fit better in MI Choice, CTS, MI Options, SAP, or Community Navigation, we route them.
If TIC is not the right fit at all, we connect them to another community resource.
No. Michigan WORKS! is free for the person being helped and free for the referring partner.
